Latest trends in jewellery fashion

THE FASCINATION for jewellery in women is ageless. Women’s charm for adorning herself with jewellery is an endless desire.” Jewellery is an expression of one own personal style and attitude,” you can get the look by picking right jewellery for the moment.

Autumn winter and spring summer decides what’s to be ‘on trend’ in jewellery fashion this year. Akansha a professional in accessory designing -NIFT-Bangalore says, “India seems to be lacking behind in fashion and the trend sets here just before it is about to fade around the world. This year sophisticated contemporary jewel designer will be making a fashion statement, mixing tradition with the modern look will be on trend.”

2008 is the year for gold tone jewellery. Long chain with chunky beadle and warmcoloured gem will overwhelm jewellery scenario. Resurgence of coral and turquoise along with pearl will add to the charm of fashion trend this year. All would exalt exotic multicolor gems. Sapphire, aquamarine and tanzanite will continue to soar to the expectation of every jewellery list. Gold base cocktail ring encrusted with hefty color gemstone would not lack behind in the trend.

Yellow gold with dramatic yet tailored design not daring but definitely eye catching is all time favorites of proletarians women with new innovative, glamorous design adorned with warm-hued gems. If you still pose the rose gold, which your great grand mom had left you, polish it now because it is perfect to embellish yourself this year.

Garima, another expertise in Accessory designing – NIFT- Delhi has her own fashion statement. She says, “Wear chandelier drop earrings with multicolor stone to compliment the look. Nine gems can add a touch of glamour to your look during day.” But this does not spell the end of earrings fashion, to embellish yourself you can switch over to long diamond dangle earrings making a dramatic statement for the evening while more demure gold dangle earrings can work nicely for daytime. But if you want to sport the classic look, wear strand of pearl different lengths. Diamond intensive brooches in heart or butterfly shape with lots of diamond pave will also be on top priority of the jewellery trend.

Do you want to be the center of attraction? The way is very lucid, just adorn yourself with glamorous necklaces. As big broad and long jewellery concept will prevail in 2008 market, necklace will also not remain untouched. Texture, satin furnished mushy flexible constructed necklaces that are longer and those like bibs with fancy gemstones and briolette are the hottest preposition.

Versatility, stackable, reversible and convertible design chain will be seen on top of necklace trend. Fusion jewellery will be in trend too. 19-years-old Richa finds herself as a victim of fashion had to says, “Though she loves to wear small, simple but multicolor jewellery but as big and broad concept prevails. She can’t resist herself far from that also.”

While Nikita student of fashion designing who seem to be particular about ‘matching’! She says, “My accessory must blend with my outfits to give me perfect look.” Well said, Nikita! While Jyoti says though long and trendy jewellery is in red carpet but I like small diamonds,” she giggled and said diamonds are women best friends.

If you are bit upset because you are suffering from allergies of nickel or metal plated jewellery? Introducing new and contemporary concept of paper jewellery seems very trendy, durable as well as affordable. Paper jewellery is a new concept where paper is used as a basic raw material.

Even celebrities and TV stars endorse it. Nisha Shabana, 23, says, “Paper jewellery is boon for us, what TV actress wear that’s in my fashion and here we can get them at affordable price.” But if you think it’s not durable, you might be wrong! Paper jewellery can sustain normal dazzle and sweat. It is available in any matching colour it is customised keeping in mind the demand of fashion. The paper jewellery is adorned with kundan, pearl and semi precious stone available to embellish yourself. “We don’t face any competition from gold and silver what we are making is totally new and unique concept!” says Niraj Saxena sales executive in kanchan paper jewellery shop. Urmila Singh is not at all reluctant to say, “It is very creative, imaginative design, paper co lour combination and something anyone would like to wear.”

Diamonds by appointment

Some reviews from Robert Ogden “My first experience of buying diamonds on the internet was a bit like buying a cheap flight,” says Robert Ogden.

“The diamonds which were offered at the lowest prices on the net always seemed to have been sold and
the stones that were actually available cost a lot more. As a retailer I was not able to compete with the
lowest priced diamonds on offer but was able to be competitive with the diamonds that were actually
available to be purchased.

It would be a misconception to think that because something can be bought on the internet that it will be cheaper - even though the fact
that you can compare the various prices does help to give you an idea
of what you may need to spend on certain stones. At a seminar at one
of the major jewellery shows in the USA we were told that the most successful diamond website in the USA sells diamonds at an average profit margin of 30 per cent. I must admit I found this surprisingly high.

Many of the finest jewellery shops in the world are situated in and around the Burlington Arcade so we always had to be competitive. In the case of loose diamond sales I pledge that I will do my best to find quality diamonds over one carat at a price competitive to diamonds available on the internet.”

Color Trends for Jewelry: Spring 2008

Get set to heat things up! The jewelry color trends for spring 2008 are going to be HOT, HOT, HOT!!
With the changing seasons we look to the coming color palates to see what is new and exciting for jewelry trends. Well there is good news and then there is great news. The good news for jewelry lovers is the expected lovely warm colors incorporated in jewelry designs, and the great news is there is celebration of our beloved favorite jewelry tones as well.

There is much to celebrate with the upcoming fall and winter season in jewelry trends with an explosion of colors for the cold weather wardrobe to lift the spirits, so it will be a hot season for lovers of jewelry, like myself.

The most surprising color trend for the winter and spring 2008 season is yellow - generally the color we connect to bring sunny times - but as a way to challenge the closed in winter days yellow is coming to brighten up our daily lives. Refreshing gemstones like citrine, yellow topaz, amber, and chrysoberyl and simulated canary diamond jewelry, topaz glass beads and the cubic zirconia substitutes will keep you on top of seasonal jewelry trends!

A great counter point color for yellow is the ever popular shades of purple that will be highlighted this spring 2008, including jewelry designs with complimenting tones of pink. So pink diamonds, amethyst, pink topaz, rose quartz, fluorite and rhodonite (one of my favorites!) gemstones as well as pink pearl jewelry will all be bringing love and balance into our fashion jewelry wardrobes.

Another hot pick for your spring jewelry wardrobe is my favorite color, blue. With it's stylish staying power, blue tones will always be a perfect fit!So look for jewelry designs with sapphires, lapis lazuli, blue jade, aquamarine, blue topaz, turquoise, blue opals, blue moonstones, as well as the handmade lampwork beads in blue and the blue cubic zirconia tones. The range of shades of blue will let you match the best ones for your style!

Exclusive Beads For childern

A new feature of the Kit Heath children’s silver range of jewellery are the beads. They are mainly letters but there also other types of symbols such as butterflies, heart, dots etc. There are special bead necklaces and bead bracelets that are designed to go with the Kit Heath beads and they’re not static. What I mean by that is one day, your child might want her name spelt out on her bracelet or necklace. The next day, however, she might want her pets name, or friend or whatever

The beads are 0.8cm across and they’re made of silver and coloured enamel - both sides have the letter on it but with different coloured enamel for greater versatility.

These beads and necklaces / bracelets make wonderful gifts and we’ve only had them up a few days and they’ve been selling well - they make great gifts. In fact, we recently went to France and in a local restaurant was a lovely waitress who is often helped by her daughter - Samia. We thought it would be nice to send a bracelet with her name in beads. We will be going back soon and even though we can’t understand each other, I hope to see the look on her face when she wears it.

This silver nacklace very preaty for gift, even made from silver but it's look like expensive nacklace. alot of us think gold is very high top in jewell but silver also to.

Another part of the Kit Heath designer children’s collection are these pretty silver guardian angels. Standing on a circular birthstone, you can choose the one for the month required. The picture to the left is peridot which is the august birthstone and a rather fetching green.More...

The silver chain is 12 inches long but it has a 2 inch extender if required so will fit a wide range of children. It’s a solid 4.5 grams in weight.

As with all Kit Heath jewellery, it comes in a very nice designer presentation box - the children’s box is a colourful red and includes a bag as well which is ideal for this childs necklace.

All in all, this kids birthstone necklace is a great present - choose the childs birth month and you’re away!

Antique amethyst gold ring and Victorian garnet gold ring

Large step cut amethyst set in a scroll design gold mount, circa 1900. A member of the quartz family, amethyst is produced in a variety of transparent purple shades. The example featured displays a rich deep violet colour, which is generally the favourite. Amethyst is probably the most commonly used stone for Bishop's rings.

More...There was a common belief that amethyst could prevent the worst effects of too much alcohol, and thus derived its name from the Greek word 'amethystos', meaning 'not drunken'. Until the 1850s amethyst was mainly used for jewellery by royalty - they were rare and expensive until large deposits were discovered in Brazil.

Art Deco style turquoise ring

Single stone platinum mounted turquoise ring framed by fan shape diamond set shoulders decorated with black enamelling in the Art Deco style.

One of the first gemstones to be mined, turquoise has long been prized for its intense colour, which varies from sky-blue to green, depending on the quantities of iron and copper within it. It entered the European markets via Turkey, and thus became known as “turquoise”, the Turkish stone. The most desirable material, the sky-blue variety, is found in Iran; other material originates from Mexico, Russia and Egypt.

Story of Jewellerys

Jewellery (also spelled jewelry, see spelling differences) is a personal ornament, such as a necklace, ring, or bracelet, made from gemstones, precious metals or other materials.

The word jewellery is derived from the word jewel, which was anglicised from the Old French "jouel" around the 13th century.Further tracing leads back to the Latin word "jocale", meaning plaything. Jewellery is one of the oldest forms of body adornment; recently found 100,000 year-old beads made from Nassarius shells are thought to be the oldest known jewellery.

Although during earlier times jewellery was created for practical uses such as wealth, storage and pinning clothes together, in recent times it has been used almost exclusively for decoration. The first pieces of jewellery were made from natural materials, such as bone, animal teeth, shell, wood, and carved stone. Jewellery was often made for people of high importance to show their status and, in many cases, they were buried with it.

Jewellery has been made to adorn nearly every body part, from hairpins to toe rings and many more types of jewellery. While high-quality is made with gemstones and precious metals, there is also a growing demand for Art jewelry where design and creativity is prized above material value. In addition, there is the less-costly costume jewellery, made from less-valuable materials and mass-produced. New variations include wire sculpture (wrap) jewellery, using anything from base metal wire with rock tumbled stone to precious metals and precious gemstones.

Form and function
Jewellery has been used for a number of reasons:

* Currency, wealth display and storage,
* Functional use (such as clasps, pins, and buckles)
* Symbolism (to show membership or status)
* Protection (in the form of amulets and magical wards)
* Artistic display

Most cultures have at some point had a practice of keeping large amounts of wealth stored in the form of jewellery. Numerous cultures move wedding dowries in the form of jewellery, or create jewellery as a means to store or display coins. Alternatively, jewellery has been used as a currency or trade good; an example being the use of slave beads.[citation needed]

Many items of jewellery, such as brooches and buckles originated as purely functional items, but evolved into decorative items as their functional requirement diminished.

Jewellery can also be symbolic of group membership, as in the case of the Christian crucifix or Jewish Star of David, or of status, as in the case of chains of office, or the Western practice of married people wearing a wedding ring.

Wearing of amulets and devotional medals to provide protection or ward off evil is common in some cultures; these may take the form of symbols (such as the ankh), stones, plants, animals, body parts (such as the Khamsa), or glyphs (such as stylized versions of the Throne Verse in Islamic art).

Although artistic display has clearly been a function of jewellery from the very beginning, the other roles described above tended to take primacy.[citation needed] It was only in the late 19th century, with the work of such masters as Peter Carl Fabergé and René Lalique, that art began to take primacy over function and wealth.[citation needed] This trend has continued into modern times, expanded upon by artists such as Robert Lee Morris and Ed Levin.
