Art Deco style turquoise ring

Single stone platinum mounted turquoise ring framed by fan shape diamond set shoulders decorated with black enamelling in the Art Deco style.

One of the first gemstones to be mined, turquoise has long been prized for its intense colour, which varies from sky-blue to green, depending on the quantities of iron and copper within it. It entered the European markets via Turkey, and thus became known as “turquoise”, the Turkish stone. The most desirable material, the sky-blue variety, is found in Iran; other material originates from Mexico, Russia and Egypt.
